Weekly Update: 8/31/2011

Family Game Night: Good times rolled at FGN. Almost 60 people were in attendance. We played the game Bunco. Our own David Sanders directed our devotional and he did an outstanding job.

Back-to-School Bash: On Sunday, September 4th, we will be going to Celebration Station in Mesquite. Cost is $25 per person which includes food and attractions. If you want, you may bring extra money. It is $5 for Laser Tag and $2 for the Rock Climbing Wall. We will meet at 3:00 PM and return around 9:30 PM. Everyone is invited, including parents. Parents, it’s only $8 if you only want to eat.

Upcoming Events:

  • Saturday, September 17th - youth / KFC car wash will be held for our Golden Agers at the building from 10:00 AM -2:00 PM.

  • Sunday, September 18th -youth devo hosted by the Martin family.

  • Sunday, September 25th -Cici’s Pizza Family Night

Final Thought: Life is complex and obedience is not as simple as doing one thing or its exact opposite. God’s principles are clear-cut but living them is not. We make hundreds, perhaps thousands of choices everyday. Decisions made in a moment can affect a lifetime. Proverbs 3: 5-6 states, “Trust in the Lord with thine heart; and lean not into thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him.” Placing confidence in the Lord simplifies life and makes it easier. Proverbs 28:26 says, “He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks wisely will be delivered.”

Final Thought: Be careful in the attitudes we feed our children. No matter how intelligent, talented or athletic a child may be. . .there’s no substitute for a child having a positive attitude towards others. Let’s not feed our children with sour opinions, poisonous feelings or wilted enthusiasm. Instead feed them with the best and positive ideas, expressions of feeling and opinions we have. Proverbs 20:7 states “ the just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.”
