Friday, September 28th - 5th Quarter

Attention all 6th - 12th graders!!!  Friday night, following the Waxahachie football game against Mansfield Summit there will be a 5th Quarter at the home of Ryder & Renee Appleton!  There house will be open till midnight!  There will be snacks provided.  You will need to provide your own transportation to and from their house.  Look forward to seeing everyone there!!

Youth Devotional

Larry and Rebecca Sullivan will be hosting the youth devotional in the month of October.  There is a conflict for the previous date given.  I will fill you in with more information as soon as I get it.

 

Paintball Sign-ups…

If you enjoy paintball, plan to come out and join us!  We will going to DFW adventure park on Saturday, October 20th.  If you would like to go, please sign up on the Youth & Family board.  The cost is $23.  The cost includes full use of playing fields, face mask and goggles, unlimited air, semi-automatic gun, and our 4 hour playing session.  You will need to bring money for paint.  We will also stop on the way home to pick up something to eat.  By rule, you have to be 10 or older to be able to play.  I will give you more details as we get closer to the date.

LTC Sign-ups…

There are sign-up sheets out on the Youth & Family bulletin board.  You will be able to sign up through the month of September.  This will help our coaches in their preparation for LTC in March 2013.  The theme is Matthew. Be thinking about what you would like to participate in for LTC.  We had a great time last year and I look forward to another successful time this year!

Sunday, September 23rd - Teen Prayer Meeting

We will be meeting in the High School classroom for our time of prayer together following evening services.  Following this time together, we will be going to Cici’s for supper.  You will need money for your meal.

Sunday, October 7th - Youth Devo

We will be going to the home of Larry & Rebecca Sullivan for our devotional time together.  I will give you more information in the near future so keep your eyes peeled!!

LTC Sign-ups…

There are sign-up sheets out on the Youth & Family bulletin board.  You will be able to sign up through the month of September.  This will help our coaches in their preparation for LTC in March 2013.  The theme is Matthew. Be thinking about what you would like to participate in for LTC.  We had a great time last year and I look forward to another successful time this year!

Something to think about... 

A grandmother and a little girl whose face was sprinkled with bright red freckles spent the day at the zoo.  The children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws.  “You’ve got so many freckles, there’s no place to paint!”, a boy in line cried. 

  Embarrassed, the little girl dropped her head.  Her grandmother knelt down next to her. “I love your freckles,” she said.  “Not me,” the girl replied.  “Well when I was a little girl I wanted freckles” she said, tracing her finger across the child’s cheek.  “Freckles are beautiful!”

  The girl looked up. “Really?” “Of course,” said the grandmother. “Why just name me one thing that’s prettier than freckles.”

  The little girl peered into the old woman’s smiling face. “Wrinkles,” she answered softly.

  What a beautiful story of love!  How wonderful it is when those who are filled with wisdom that comes with age can still see the beauty in those who are younger and have much to learn.  And how wonderful when those just learning to spread their wings can see the beauty in those who have flown so long they have grown weary of flying.

  “The glory of young men is their strength, and the splendor of old men is their gray head.” (Proverbs 20:29).

  With a heart of love, may we see the beauty of God’s children both young and old.

Sunday, September 16th - Youth Activity

We will be going to Ferris to worship with the congregation there.  Plan to be at the building at 4:15 p.m.  Following services in Ferris we will be going to a fast food restaurant for supper.  We will plan to be back in the church parking lot for pick up no later than 8:00 p.m. Look forward to seeing everyone here!!

Saturday, September 15th is Groesbeck church of Christ’s 2nd annual singing.  It will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will conclude at 8:30 p.m.  There will be a break in the middle where light refreshments will be served.  We will be leaving the parking lot here at the building at 4:45 and will plan to return around 10:00 p.m.  I hope you plan to come out for some great congregational singing on September 15th!!

The devotional will be hosted by Wyman & Carol Stewart.  We will be going to the home of Janice Bailey.  The only thing you will need to bring is your appetite.  Make note that this is on a Saturday night.  We will meet at the building at 5:30 p.m.  Pick-up time will be 8:00 p.m. here at the building.

Sunday, September 9th - Parents Meeting

Calling all parents!!  Sunday evening at 4:00 p.m. we will be meeting in the fellowship room for time to discuss the fall and winter activities.  Please make plans to attend if at all possible.  Calendars will be given out.
