Sunday, February 3rd - Super Bowl Party

The Super Bowl is set...Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers.  If you would like to watch the game in its entirety, you are invited to the home of Rick and Kara Williams.  You will need to bring your supper.  I will push play on the DVR at 6:30.

KFC Korner…

The Mommy Daughter Valentines Tea will be held on Saturday, February 16th at the church building.  All Mommy’s with daughters up to 2nd grade are invited to attend.  It will begin at 11:30 and will conclude at 1:00 pm.  This is a come and go event.  We would encourage you to wear your finest tea attire (dresses, boas, jewels, crowns and hats).  Mommy’s and daughters will enjoy a light lunch followed by crafts.  All Mommy’s and daughters need to RSVP to the church office at 972-937-8855 or johnhollyreagan@earthlink.net.

Saturday, January 26th - Adopt-a-Highway clean-up

It has now been rescheduled.  Saturday January 26th will be our time to clean-up our section of highway.  Make plans now to come out and help keep Waxahachie beautiful! 

Sunday, January 27th - Youth Devotional

We will be going to the home of Rick and Kara Williams for a devotional following services.  Invite a friend!  Look forward to seeing everyone there!

Following services, we will gather in the High School classroom for a time of prayer together.  We will then be going to Panda Express for a meal following the Teen Prayer Meeting.

Let me know by Sunday if you plan on attending T3.  This event is for 8-12 graders.  The cost is $20 per person.  “T3 is not a youth rally or retreat.  It is a weekend for young people who understand Christianity and want to learn how to better communicate the Truth to their friends and family.”

Weekly Update: 01/02/2013

2471 Upcoming Events:

Winter Retreat 2013

January 4-6 will be the dates for our Winter Retreat.  The theme this year is “Undone”.  We will be going to Texoma Youth Camp outside of Pottsboro, Texas.   If you would like to go, please sign up on the Youth & Family board.  The cost for the retreat is $25.  We to plan to meet at the building at 4:30, and we will pull out soon after.  You will need money for supper that Friday night.  We will plan to be back in Waxahachie mid-afternoon on Sunday.

Attention all LTC participants!  Practice will begin for song leading, signing, scripture reading, and speech on Wednesday, January 9th.  All other events will begin Sunday, January 13th.  Watch the bulletin for the weekly practice schedule!

Dr. Harold Urey, Nobel prize winner in Chemistry, was walking along a sidewalk one day when he ran into another professor. They chatted for a few minutes, then, as they parted, Dr. Urey asked the other, "John, which way was I going when I met you?" "That way," said the other, pointing. "Oh, good. That means I've already had my lunch," muttered the professor as he walked away.

I have to confess to being somewhat absent-minded myself. That's one of the advantages of growing older -- every year, I have a more acceptable excuse for forgetting things. I forget where I've left my keys, I forget others' names, and perhaps most irritating of all, I sometimes forget where I've left the remote control for the TV.

All of those forgotten things bother me, but what bothers me even more is that I have a tendency to forget God. Not so much when times are rough (I need Him then!), but when times are good. God knew that might happen. That's why He warned the Israelites before they entered the land of Canaan:

"Beware that you do not forget the LORD your God..lest -- when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt. (Deut. 8:11-14a).  Would you forget your head if it wasn't screwed on tight? Just don't forget who your Head is!
